Assign a Phone Number to an App

This guide describes how to assign a phone number from your inventory to a Marketplace application.


 

Overview

Any no-code application you create and deploy within the Marketplace must have a phone number from your inventory assigned to it. This final step determines the inbound number, or what number a customer would dial, to reach your app.

 

During the app creation process, you might include a few numbers in the configuration. These are outbound numbers, or what number a customer interacting with the app would be transferred to. The outbound numbers can be any number you own. But the inbound number you assign to your app must be in your inventory and CPaaS enabled.

 

For example, if you were configuring a new Smart IVR app, you might include phone numbers for the Sales and Customer Service departments as outbound numbers. After you click the Deploy button, you can then assign your main business line as the inbound number a customer would call to reach the menu.

Assign a Phone Number to an App

You can assign a number to an no-code app immediately after you finish creating it, or at a later time via the Installed Apps tab.

After App Creation

Once you’ve configured a new app and click Deploy, a success message appears along with the option to assign a phone number. Click Yes.

From the Installed Apps Tab

If you decided not to immediately assign a number to your flow after it was configured, you can always assign a number later on the Installed Apps tab.

All of your previously configured apps appear in the installed tab. Search or scroll to find the app you want to assign a number to, then click the Manage Numbers button on the right.

From the Manage Numbers window you can browse or search for a specific number from your inventory. If a number was previously assigned to another app, the app name appears in the Inbound Voice or Inbound SMS column.

Click the toggle to the far right of the number you want to assign to your app.

Then Close the window.

Your app is all set up and can be used immediately!

 

Tips

  • If you can’t find a specific number on the Manage Numbers window, it might not be CPaaS enabled. Confirm the status in the CPaaS Enabled column within your Inventory. Check out Managing and Using Numbers in the IntelePeer Customer Portal for more information.

  • If the number you want to assign to an app is already in use (e.g., you want to assign the number to a Smart IVR, but it's already assigned to a Smart Routing app), you can override the current assignment if you click the toggle. But we recommend using a brand new number to avoid breaking the existing app (unless you are 100% sure you no longer need the currently assigned app).

  • We recommend calling the assigned number to test your app out and confirm it is working as expected.
